NYFW 2011: Behind The Scene

<Backstage at Nicolas Rodriguez show>

The eventful New York City may never slow down its pace, but New York Fashion Week Fall 2011 is finally winding down.  The city has been packed with designers, photographers, models, and magazine editors (and of course lots of celebs) from around the world this past week.  You don't have to be in the fashion business to feel the excitement in the air.
I didn't get to participate any of the shows this year, but from my experiences, the most exciting moments always happen at the backstage area,  It's overwhelming, nerve wracking, and chaotic, but it's also fascinating and oh-so-glamorous to me. There's something magical in the backstage area... not sure if it's because of the anticipation building up before the show, or it's because it's packed with all the beautiful clothes and shoes and awesome make-ups (AND awesome make-up artists)! Or maybe it's because I secretly feel privileged that I get to have a taste of the newest look of the season before all the big name people in the front row. Or maybe it's because behind that long spotless runway, it takes a team of amazing talents to put all the elements of beauty and creativity together, just to translate the designers' visions and unfold a beautiful fashion story to the world.
Of course nothing beats the thrill of walking down the runway as the photogs' flashlights blind your sight, but it's all that unseen backstage magic that makes the "front-stage" so valuable and enjoyable.
