See that in the picture? A good ol' cozy cardigan, just like the one grandpa used to have..... that's what I crave for now. Yep, you heard me right, what was out is in again. Actually, it has been back in the trend for while. I'm usually intimidated by big graphic patterns, it was not really my kind of thing, but something's telling me it's time to give it a try. Since the big pattern is already making a statement, I'm going easy with the colors and definitely keeping the other pieces simple. Layer it over a basic tee and a favorite pair of skinny jeans is definitely a perfect way to start, whether for running around town in this after-blizzard mess, or just having a lazy day on the couch, (of course I prefer a lazy day on the couch)!!
I saw the Gia Cardigan (the one in the top picture) on Shopbop at a random occasion, there are also some great patterned cardigans at FreePeople. But the best places to find great grandpa's cardigans is secondhand vintage stores, or places like etsy.com. They're usually packed with one of a kind pieces with a much reasonable price range. It just takes a little more patience, and maybe a little bit of luck.
With or without those big pattered designs, grandpa's cardigans can also be found in many different textures. It's fun (and warm) to layer them over form fitting , body hugging dresses. It adds a casual sense to the dresses, and makes them more versatile and wearable during the day. What's better than staying cozy while looking cute?
